- “Estadio Daniel Demetrio Hernandez” field in Tyler, TX recognizing Daniel’s service in his hometown community
Daniel Hernandez has always exhibited hard work and dedication both on and off the field. Off the field, Daniel is the perfect person to present how the principals of sportsmanship can help a person become a champion in life. Whether it's charitable or marketing events for national brand companies, Daniel has the experience of it all.
Since 1995, when Daniel began his college career at SMU, he started speaking to kids at different schools and events. While volunteering at Mi Escuelita, an early childhood program that works with underprivileged children of all ethnic backgrounds, Daniel organized a "5 de Mayo Soccer Fiesta." Every 5 de Mayo, while at SMU, over 100 kids would come out to the campus for a day full of activities, with the assistance and dedication of his head coach, Schellas Hyndman, and many of his teammates. While playing for the NY/NJ MetroStars, Daniel was deeply affected by the events of 9/11 and joined some of the biggest stars in entertainment at the Concert for New York in Madison Square Garden. Daniel spoke briefly on the nationally televised event, telling the world that his hometown of Tyler, TX, was also praying for New York. In Dec. 2001, Daniel was the featured guest speaker at the NJCCA Soccer Final Four, in Tyler, TX. As a member of the N.E. Revolution, Daniel recorded a nationally televised public announcement, as a soccer spokesperson for the 2003 Paralympics.
Because of his service to the Hispanic community, a soccer field in his hometown of Tyler, TX., carries his name. When children play soccer on "Estadio Daniel Demetrio Hernandez", they all dream to one day accomplish what their hometown hero has.
Daniel is positioned as the perfect spokesperson to communicate a brands promotional and selling message to the Hispanic market through association with the world's biggest sport of soccer. Marketing partners will have the ability to feature Daniel in a variety of brand integration initiatives, live event-marketing applications and to utilize his wonderful personality and image, not to mention being fluent in english and spanish.
As a proud Nike endorsed athlete since 1998, Daniel's other national endorsements include: U.S. Army, Lowe's Home Improvement, Budweiser, AT&T, Tecate, Macy's, and others. He was the 2005 National Spokesperson for AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Nexium Brand GERD Campaign, where he gave speeches in spanish to Hispanic communities all around the U.S. Daniel also recorded tv and radio commercials for the Perry B. Hall Real Estate Co. and Austin Banks, both of Tyler, TX.
